A Dog's Life - Ticked Off and Cooling Off

It's time you heard from me, Cora.  I'm having quite an adventure with lots of interesting new places.  But it isn't all plain sailing and the life of a travelling dog can be hard sometimes.  THEY don't help either and sometimes they seem cross with me all the time.  It's not my fault that there's so many cats and they all need chasing.

As soon as we stop somewhere new, I'm ready to get off.  If they're mucking around with mooring lines, I like to remind them of this as loudly as I can.  HE gets mad about that and shouts.  But then HE gets me off to do the necessary . . .

It has been a lovely warm spring and I've much enjoyed rushing through the lush undergrowth.  It was especially nice at Waulsort albeit a bit itchy afterwards.  Then HE got all exercised and started pulling ticks off me.  I don't know why he bothered - when they're full, they drop off on the floor of the boat all by themselves.  Apparently, on one day he pulled 'twenty' of them off (whatever 'twenty' means).  It wasn't my fault but HE put smelly stuff on my neck and SHE groomed me within an inch of my life.  I was nearly bald.

Some idiot gave HIM an annoying whirry thing for his birthday.  When HE flew it near me, I jumped up and nearly brought it down.  It was even faster than a cat.  Mind you, HE's so inept, you can't even hear me barking in the video.
It's turning hot now which is pretty challenging for a dog as well furred as me.  SHE tried a heavy cooling collar on me which felt pretty stupid albeit cooling.  But I can really enjoy a hot day with my personal doggy paddling pool which HE fills using his water pump.  It saves me having to scrabble down a muddy bank as I can get cool right by the boat.  With careful timing, I can shake over all the passers-by which they seem to really enjoy.  I can see this will be essential equipment for a Pup-in-France this summer.

All told, I'm une chienne heureuse

    1. I've changed it to that but I'm told it isn't common usage. And to feminise a cat creates something rather rude!

  2. Well, well we learn something new every day Rob. I didn't know that chienne isn't in common use. Not much need to use the word on a day to day basis. Now feminising cat I did know about.
